I can hardly believe it. My dog passed away about 20 minutes ago due to complications from an emergency surgery earlier today. What a fucking awful day. First the Vegas shooting, then Tom Petty, now this. I need a drink and a hug.

Come to Illinois and I’ll give you a gigantic hug! <3
*hugs* I’m so sorry either way, it’s an insane world right now and nobody deserves it. Take care of yourself and remember all the awesomeness that your friend provided *hugs tighter*

You gave Doggo a great life and he/she did the same for you. Don’t mourn, be happy that you were able to make wonderful memories with your best friend.
Of course, I will offer you one of my famous bear hugs, but the second one will cost you $0.50/second :)

If there’s one thing I’m certain of in this world...
Sorry for your loss, especially if it wasn’t your pupper’s time to go. Maybe yours will run into my Max, Jaz, KC or Copper up there.

I’m so sorry to hear about your dog. It’s terrible when they pass away unexpectedly like that. It just catches you off guard. I’m sure that you did everything that you could to give them a great life while they were alive.

We still mourn the loss of Lili in early 2013, but it gets easier. She had 18 good years and, like you, we did everything we could for her. Our pets have better healthcare than lots of people. You did all you could, and that’s what counts.

Smashing an axe into things was very therapeutic after today. Then I ran out of wood to split. It’s been difficult.
My condolences on your loss.

36" splitter? It’s a great axe. 20" rounds from a live mountain pine that blew down less than five weeks ago. It made the work less therapeutic. It went by too fast.

So sorry to hear of your loss. It will get better but you don’t need to be told that. Let it out if you have to. Not good to hold it in.

Idk. Mine feels like it’s more like a 10 lb head with a hollow polycarbonate handle. You can get that fucker swinging fast.

Fresh wood is difficult - I’d have aged it and used a mawl. But I’m a wuss ...

I’m so sorry to hear this. I know words don’t make the pain go away. Nothing really does. Just know that you gave your pup the best life he could have ever asked for. My dogs are my family to me, and losing one is never easy. Over time, the pain does lessen, but you don’t ever really forget them. Your dog will always hold a little place in your heart.
I’m a couple of years removed from what you’re going through now. I still think about him often. Sometimes it makes me sad. More often though, it makes me smile when I think of some silly personality quirk he had or something he did. Eventually I think you’ll get to this place too.

I’m pretty OK. Lol.
I normally would’ve aged it too, at least over the winter. But yesterday was... a ...day. The shooting hit a lot closer to home than any in the past and I needed the therapy. It was what I had on hand. It helped a bit but I ran out of rounds too soon. It’s a good axe.

That totally sucks. My condolences. I’ve lost a few pets over the years and it’s very hard, especially when they go early.
